2007

Releasing my first album of original music in 2007 was a bit of an 'identity challenge.'  I love listening to a wide array of music, from old-and-new country music to pop/rock, Christian and gospel, Americana, and even some jazz and bluegrass in the mix.  So, my years of writing songs have covered the gamut of genres.  When I had music fans approaching me after Bluebird shows asking “Where can I get your music?”, I realized that packaging myself as an 'artist' on an album presented somewhat of a quandry. What category am I, exactly, as an artist?

Musically, the best way I can answer that is, I consider myself more of a performing songwriter.  For my 2007 album, I chose a compilation of my favorite original songs at the time with the message of hope and strength I wanted to share, and with rhythms and melodies others might want to sing along with. The result was a Martina McBride-meets-Sheryl Crow theme and vibe.  I grew immensely during this time as a songwriter collaborating with a lot of great Nashville talent.
