Age to Age: El Shaddai

From the Gift Vault! This is a song recorded as a gift for my husband, Craig 17 years ago (that’s the ‘flipped’ number of his ‘71 birthday year)! When Craig and I were dating, he told me that Amy Grant’s recording of “El Shaddai” is one of his favorite songs. So I decided to surprise him with a duet recording, bringing two of his good buddies in on the surprise: Larry Stewart (one of Craig’s all-time favorite singers), and our incredibly talented piano-playing friend, Kevin Salyer.

Looking back now, I can’t believe we pulled it off! It was all done live with just a few run-throughs of the song — Larry and me singing live on one microphone; Kevin playing a grand piano across the room. No separate vocal booths; no fixes or “punch-ins.” All I can say is, it must have been God Who synchronized it all…just as He synchronized bringing Craig and me together. He is my match made in heaven!
